England

England and I is a very long story! 🇬🇧
I have been discovering this country since the age of 14, when I had an English correspondent. Since then, I have never really stopped returning there. After France, England is the country I know best.
Over the years, I have returned there dozens of times, with some years between. 1st and 4th trips to London. I discovered England at different times in my life, alone, as a couple, with my family and now with my children.
London is obviously my heart’s city. I’ve known it since I was a teenager and I go back there every year, sometimes several times. But England isn’t just about London! I also had a real crush on Manchester, And I love discovering small towns, villages, and English countryside, and these places where you can still find that British atmosphere that I love so much.
And the story continues: in October 2026, I’m leaving to discover a new part of the country on a road trip between Oxford, the Cotswolds and Bath.
On this page, I am therefore sharing with you my tips for traveling in England, my itineraries, my favorite cities, my good addresses and my experiences, With a traveler's eye, she returns to the country after more than 20 years.
Whether you are preparing for your first trip to London, a family holiday, a city trip to Manchester, or a road trip through the English countryside, you will find here all my ideas for preparing your trip.
Why do I like England so much?
If I’ve been back to England so often over the past 20 years, it’s obviously not a coincidence! 🇬🇧❤️
First of all, It is a very easy destination to reach from Nice. With direct flights, especially with EasyJet, London is easily accessible from Nice-Côte d’Azur airport. Some flights depart very early in the morning: it is even possible to leave Nice at 7 a.m. and arrive in London at 8 a.m. thanks to the time difference. This allows you to enjoy a real day out there!
And yes, I've already been to London for the day. When you know the city well and live in Nice, it’s a getaway that can be really nice for a change of scenery, for shopping, or simply to enjoy the London atmosphere.
I also really like it Go there during the Christmas season. The illuminations, the window displays in department stores, the decorations, the markets, and this special atmosphere make London magical at this time of year. 🎄✨
But I'm not going to England just to visit!
I also love it to do my shopping and do some shopping. It has become a little pleasure during my trips: discovering English supermarkets, buying products that aren’t necessarily available in France, strolling through department stores and returning with a few typical British items.
And then there's obviously Architecture. That’s one of the things I particularly love when I walk through English streets: the Victorian houses, the brick facades, the historic buildings, the pubs, the small colorful houses of some neighborhoods… It completely changes the scenery compared to France.
I also really like it English culture, Its history, its traditions, its museums, its universities, its pubs, and the very special way of living the city.
And contrary to what some people imagine, I also like English gastronomy… yes, yes! 😄 The pubs, the pies, the fish & chips, the breakfasts, the afternoon teas, the scones and all the new places I discover along the way are all part of the pleasure.
But what I might prefer above all, is the atmosphere.
There’s something about England that I find hard to find elsewhere. A special atmosphere, which I feel as soon as I get off the plane. Maybe it’s because I’ve been going there since I was 14, but I always have this feeling of returning to a familiar place.
And it is probably for all these reasons that, even after more than 20 years of traveling, I always want to go back there.
