Family holidays in the Var with Yelloh! Village
We love the Var and instead of going to the very popular places like St Tropez, Sainte Maxime or even Lavandou (which we love but have visited 116 times), we wanted to venture off the beaten path and head to Fayence and Puget sur Argens!
Fayence, a charming town located in the Var region of Provence, is known for its natural landscapes, its old cobbled streets and its picturesque charm.
Puget-sur-Argens is an ideal place for nature and culture lovers. The city is surrounded by greenery, with forests, hills, and vineyards that stretch out for miles! The historic city center is filled with old buildings and cobblestone streets, with many restaurants, bars, and shops to explore.
We discovered these towns when we were preparing for our wedding by visiting the many wine estates in the area, and it made us want to go back there more quietly with the children.
I have to confess something to you: 10 years ago, when I was traveling around the world, I never imagined spending a day of my vacation camping. It was only a few years ago, when our friends had children and we started traveling with our own kids, that we discovered the holiday villages. I am increasingly amazed by the services they can offer!
We discovered the Yelloh! Village campsites and it’s nothing like the image I had in my head of a campsite with my tent when I went on holiday with my friends!

Now we’re talking about cottage-style accommodation; it’s become so comfortable that you can even have a jacuzzi and sun loungers on your terrace! We can all agree that camping holidays are nothing like they were back in the day when my grandparents were young (laughing)
Children love camping; they especially like water play areas like at the camping in the Var La Bastiane in Puget sur Argens (by the way, they have completely renovated the swimming area). They also like to go to the children’s club and meet children their age. You know, we often go to big cities and even though we often visit children’s museums and prepare great activities for them, what they really want is to make new friends and just play!
What we parents love about Yelloh! Villages campsites is precisely the tranquility (laughs), knowing that there are children’s clubs for all ages with great activities and that we can finally relax. A break in our lives at 1000 km/h! A little confession: what we also love about Thom and these holiday villages is the general culture-type evenings or the blind test evenings. It also allows us to make connections with other holidaymakers; we have always had good experiences there and would return immediately without hesitation.
Here are some activities we recommend you to do during a visit to the area around Fayence / Pugets:
- St Cassien Lake: It is the ideal place for water sports such as windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking.

- Exploring the historical center of Fayence: Fayence is a medieval town with many historical buildings, such as: Notre-Dame Church, the Castle of the Templars and the old half-timbered houses. Take the time to stroll through the cobbled streets to discover the city’s architecture and history.
- Enjoying the panoramic views: Fayence is surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains and forests. Climb to the lookout point to enjoy breathtaking views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.
- Playing pétanque: The ball game is very popular in the south of France. Join the local residents in the village squares for a game of pétanque; it’s always a very pleasant atmosphere.
- Participating in an antique car rally: Fayence is famous for its annual vintage car rally. Get behind the wheel of a vintage car and drive along the winding roads of the region, while admiring the magnificent surrounding landscapes. A must-do!!
- Visit a local vineyard: The Var is famous for its vineyards, with many producers offering tastings of local wines. We recommend you go and have some tastings at Château Sainte Roseline and Château des Demoiselles. You can find all our good addresses in the Var here On the road of Provence's wines

In conclusion, if you are looking to spend a family holiday in France, I can only recommend the Yelloh! Village campsites and even better at our campsite on the Côte d’Azur! With their commitment to the family experience, their comfortable accommodations, and activities for all ages, you are sure to have a great holiday.
