Attitude Hotels: Don’t travel to Mauritius; experience Mauritius!
Last March we went for a week to discover Mauritius as part of a memorable blog trip organized by Hotels Attitude, a Mauritian hotel group that stands out quite atypically by offering its guests a more authentic experience of the island. Before leaving, we were somewhat skeptical about the group’s promise, but in the end the stay far exceeded our expectations. We explain everything here and introduce you to our must-see and must-do activities in Mauritius!

A team of choc and many laughs!
I’ll be honest with you: it’s rare to participate in a blogging trip where the atmosphere is great throughout the entire stay… One thing is for sure: people come before statistics; that’s the fundamental criterion for organizing an event of this kind and living unforgettable experiences in the best conditions. If you followed our live journey, you’ll surely remember the many laughs on Snapchat and Instagram Stories… Come on, let’s give you the presentation! There was our Parisian friend Olivier (Instagram: @wonguy974), the Londoners Carrie (Instagram: @wishwishwish), Jiri (Instagram: @jeera), Lucy (Instagram: @Shinythoughts), the Norwegian Tereza (Instagram: @terezainoslo), not to mention the Germans Nic (Instagram: @luziapimpinella) and Joerg (Instagram: @jn).
The atmosphere was already in place after just a few minutes of meeting at CDG airport, and we were off for an 11-hour flight to this little Mauritian paradise with Hotels Attitude. We were welcomed by Esther, who took us to The Ravenala Attitude hotel, the first stop of this stay… The program included relaxation and tasting local rum on the beach at sunset… The ideal way to start this stay on the island of Mauritius 🙂 To put you in the situation, you can watch the video from the blogtrip below!
This trip was an opportunity to discover the different hotels of the group, but also to live unique experiences while marveling at the most beautiful scenery of Mauritius. Port Louis and its lively market, the island of the deer and its paradisiacal beaches, the Pamplemousse botanical garden and its large variety of plants from all four corners of the world, are just some of the must-see sites to discover if you are on holiday in Mauritius. Our favorites on the island of Mauritius with Hotels Attitude
- The charm of each hotel
Even though they are all under the same umbrella, each of these hotels is unique and differs in terms of its decor, architecture, infrastructure, and the authentic experiences it offers.
- The ethics of the Attitude Hotels group
«Human» is resolutely at the center of the group's values, with the intention of instilling a spirit of family among the employees who are named the Family Members. We were pleasantly surprised to see how involved and valued they are within the group! Through its Green Attitude label, the group also aims to support sustainable development in cultural, ecological, social, and economic terms by, for example, promoting short-distance trade or supporting «talents» in their artistic or cultural projects (craftsmen, musicians, etc.).

- Authentic Dinner: Dinner at the home of the host
The Family Members volunteers host small groups of clients at their homes every week to give them a real authentic meal while immersed in the musical culture. We were invited to Rhani’s home and had an unforgettable evening with her small family. The program included a traditional Hindu welcome, a delicious meal with oriental influences, and a lively end of the evening (music, dance, etc.). While Capucine tried on a sari (traditional Indian dress), I played football with the neighborhood kids 🙂
- Authentic Cuisine: the local cooking class
Some of the group #«s hotels offer the opportunity to learn about local cuisine and even create refreshing mocktails in the company of local chefs. We learned how to cook the famous Mauritian chicken curry, and it was a real treat… The end of the course ended in a »top chef” style with the selection of the best dish by the chef, and unsurprisingly, Olivier and I won it! Proud! Speaking of cuisine, you can enjoy local specialties in the restaurants of the group’s hotels, as well as in small carts, in a street food style, set up in various places (beach, garden, pool, etc.).
The discovery of the island off the beaten track
In order for every customer to experience Mauritius off the beaten track, Hotels Attitude has created a handy mobile app that allows you to visit the surroundings of each group hotel in complete autonomy, by car or bicycle! There are several circuits available that offer the opportunity to visit the most inaccessible places to immerse yourself fully in Mauritian local life. You traverse small villages, you meet a craftsman who makes wooden boats for fishermen, a little further the app suggests stopping in a small colorful port worth a detour, far from everything, etc… In short, a great discovery and a practical solution for discovering authentic Mauritius. You can download the app here Authentic Discovery, This is a great opportunity to plan your vacation in Mauritius by identifying must-see sites 🙂

Day trip on a catamaran in the Coin de Mire
Without a doubt, one of our best memories from this trip! On the program: many visual highlights, snorkeling in a turquoise and crystal-clear sea, delicious food, a nap in the front of the catamaran, and music in the late afternoon while enjoying delicious cocktails on board! The price of this activity is 1600 MUR, which is about 40 euros per person. The price includes: lunch, drinks (soft drinks and alcohol), snorkeling equipment, and the kindness and good humor of the skippers (fantastic!) The departure is at 9:00 from the magnificent beach of Hotel Coin de Mire Attitude and the return at 16:00.
Witnessing the sunrise at sea with the fishermen
One morning we woke up around 4:30 to head to the jetty of the Zilwa hotel and board a traditional fisherman’s boat to watch the sunrise from the sea. Although the weather conditions weren’t ideal, we were able to enjoy these magnificent landscapes, a bit «dramatic» at times with the arrival of black clouds against a backdrop of orange sky 🙂 An essential experience if you stay at the Zilwa hotel.
Port Louis and its authentic city center
Nothing like enjoying a beautiful morning exploring the lively and authentic city center of Port Louis, the opportunity to immerse yourself even more in the local cosmopolitan culture and discover its wonders. We recommend visiting the food market, the ideal place to get a feel for the city; the atmosphere is very lively! Take the time to wander the picturesque streets of Chinatown and don’t miss a visit to the photography museum; Tristan Brésille will warmly welcome you and show you his vast collection of cameras and the most exclusive photos. At the end of the day, take in the view from the citadel to watch the sunset!
The Island of the Deer
And yes, you can’t leave Mauritius without spending at least one day on the island of Cerf, one of the most beautiful places on the island where you can marvel at these postcard-like scenery! Lush vegetation, fine sandy beaches, turquoise sea, the ideal cocktail to enjoy a moment of dream in a paradisiacal place. We set off by taxi boat from Ponton de the Tropical Attitude hotel, Located opposite the Trou d’Eau Douce lagoon on the east coast of Mauritius. Once you arrive on the island, we somewhat regretted that there were so many people, but you just need to move away from the areas with the highest traffic to discover hidden corners where you feel like you’re the only one in the world, ideal for resting and relaxing.
Belle Mare: one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius
This dream beach is located opposite the Emeraude Beach Attitude hotel... Here, it's all about tranquility and relaxation... No noise whatsoever, just the wind passing through the vegetation bordering this sublime beach. And the color of the lagoon... Sublime! We didn't have the chance to sleep in this hotel, but we were able to have a small breakfast in the morning while enjoying many culinary specialties presented in the small, colorful «Otentik» roulotte. An exceptional moment that we all would have liked to have extended a little longer to enjoy these exceptional landscapes even more.
The Pamplemousse Botanical Garden
The «green» and refreshing touch of this stay and the must-see step of a stay on the island of Mauritius! In the botanical garden of the district of Pamplemousse, you can marvel at these large varieties of plants originating from all corners of the world and stroll quietly (and get lost!) in the many paths of this 37-hectare garden. You can admire the giant lilies, a hundred different species of palm trees, as well as flamboyant trees, mangos, araucarias, baobabs and spice trees that diffuse pleasant scents throughout the entire park. Absolutely to be discovered!
As you can see, this blogging trip was unforgettable and we have an unforgettable memory of this fabulous destination. Mauritius is a contrast, cosmopolitan, welcoming and truly spectacular. We hope to return one day to enjoy it more and discover even more 🙂 If you want to take a trip with your partner or family while combining relaxation and discovery, this is the perfect destination for you!
