After spending two wonderful days in the Saint-Tropez region To enjoy the dolce vita, we leave the coast to head inland to recharge our batteries for three days at the Mercure Brign hotelolEs Golf de Barbaroux. As part of our program Ambassador Mercure,We took full advantage of this extended weekend, where many activities were planned to make this short stay a truly unique experience.

And what a program! We’ll tell you all about it in detail 😉

We pack our bags in the Privilège room, which is beautifully decorated, combining the contemporary with rustic touches. The essentials of this type of room can be found there. high-end of the group with the Nespresso coffee machine, The smartphone charging station, the mini bar Filled with drinks and snacks, a multitude of cosmetics, bathrobes and even slippers. After making a first discovery of the hotel and after enjoying a generous salad in the establishment’s «La Brasserie» with a remarkable view over the golf course, our host Benjamin Caternet, the manager of the Mercure Brignoles, organized two beautiful activities for us in the afternoon: a visit to the Museum of Red Faces in Tourves and a wine tasting at Château de la Margillière.

This New generation museum offers the visitor a playful discovery of the universe of bauxite mines, Famous in the Var region until 1980. The opportunity to retrace this era and better understand life in these mines. The museum is very interesting with many explanations on geology, the evolution of working conditions, and also an unusual visit to a mine reconstructed using the help of former miners who are now very elderly. This visit is narrated by Jérémy, a passionate guide who will captivate you with his many knowledge. An essential visit that will appeal to both young and old. Don’t miss it if you’re passing through the region. More information on the website Museum of Red Lips

We continue at the end of the afternoon with the discovery of domain of Margillière, Located a few minutes from Brignoles and the hotel, in a remarkable natural setting. The stone building, more than 300 years old, is in itself a must-see, typical of the Provençal style, with several tens of hectares of vineyards surrounding it that bask in the sweet Mediterranean sun. We are far from the mass productions destined for the large distribution and international markets; here, wine production is carried out on a human scale, by families, and meets the standards of Organic Agriculture. Each of the offered wines (White, Rosé and Red) is divided into two categories: the Bastide Cuvée and the Hautes Terres Cuvée, obtained from the oldest vines planted on the slopes of the estate. More information on the website Château de la Margillière.

On this first evening, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. « The Terraces of Golf » in an elegant and chic setting. The main room is spacious and overlooks a large terrace of identical size that overlooks the golf course of Barbaroux. The staff is welcoming, friendly and provides many tips on the choice of dishes and wines. Every Friday evening, the chef suggests a special dish, depending on the arrivals from the market. This evening, as every Friday, it is Langoustine linguine, What a delight! To accompany this delicious dish, there’s nothing like a white wine from the Château de la Margillière Hautes Terres, the same one we tasted the very same afternoon.

  • Oh but it’s at my place! And I’ve known Jérémy, your museum guide, since primary school.
I never thought I would see the names of Tourves and Brignoles on a blog one day!
It looked like a very nice stay anyway 🙂
