We tested: the Mercure hotel in Nice Promenade des Anglais
For this fourth part of our missions’Ambassadors Mercure, We’re leaving for a weekend on the rediscovery of Nissa la Bella, The most emblematic of the Azurians, rich in a turbulent history, a unique culture, remarkable heritage and an identity deeply rooted in the hearts of its inhabitants.
We love to stroll early in the morning on the Promenade des Anglais, do our shopping at Saleya market, and eat the socca at Pipo, Enjoying an ice cream in the picturesque alleys of old Nice, relaxing in the gardens of Paillon, being surprised by the cannon fire at noon, or taking in the view from the castle hill to enjoy the lush greenery and the exceptional view of the city. Bay of Angels…
In short, there are dozens of reasons to love this city!
We pack our bags and head to Mercurue Promenade des Anglais, At the Hotel Villa Rosa, we were warmly welcomed by Bruno Felix, the hotel manager, and Andrea, who was our guide for these two days of experience. The establishment is located facing the sea in front of The most mythical promenade of the French Riviera, a location privileged in Nice. This high-end hotel is resolutely on a human scale and we quickly noticed the atmosphere family-friendly and friendly who rules there. Moreover, most of the employees have been there for many years, some of whom have more than twenty years of experience! They are well versed in the city and provide customers with a wealth of valuable information and addresses. The establishment works closely with many Nice partners, such as the private Ruhl beach and numerous activity providers.
Although the reception area is not very spacious (work is planned to be carried out soon), the main advantage of the Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais remains the beauty of its rooms, which offer a view of the sea. a breathtaking view of the sea. The arrangement of these rooms has been designed so that one can enjoy this exceptional panorama from every corner (the bed, the bathroom, etc.).
The same evening, we went out to dinner with Andrea at Séjour Café, an excellent restaurant located in the city center that has been ranked #1 on Tripadvisor. The food is exquisite, delicious and worthy of a starred restaurant. A great value for money. We then went for a night walk in the old town, where we enjoyed an ice cream at Gelateria Azzurro, right next to Rossetti Square. This small ice cream shop really has nothing to envy its famous competitor Fenocchio! Come on, one last night walk on Masséna Square and along the English Promenade (not to be missed) and then we head back to the hotel to rest and fully enjoy our room.
And when I woke up…

Even though our guide is Swedish, he knows Nice inside out, and it’s a real pleasure to rediscover the city through his eyes. warm company. We also learned a lot of little anecdotes!
Did you know that every afternoon in Nice you can hear a cannon shot ? It is actually a tradition that is more than 120 years old… A Scottish Lord was furious that his wife was always late returning from her morning walk in the old town. He asked the mayor of the time to fire a cannon at noon exactly to warn her that it was lunchtime! The Niçois quickly got used to it and this old tradition still continues today…

And to finish our experience #Enjoymercure In beautiful surroundings, we go for lunch at the restaurant of the Ruhl beach.
Where other modern beaches rely on a rather »lounge» atmosphere without any flavor, the Ruhl beach, on the other hand, retains its old charm that does not fade over the decades. A true gem from the past, in the 20s, with that Art Deco style that looks especially beautiful. No detail is overlooked, from the decor to the nice attire of the waiters and waitresses, through the beach furniture and the old changing rooms of the time. For a meal or a day at the beach, you feel as if you are outside time.
The welcome is friendly, the staff smiling, the service is of high quality and the meal… Excellent! We chose the daily menu (plate + dessert at 26€) with a delicious fish and a glass of red fruit served with vanilla ice cream.
Thanks again to Bruno Felix, Andréa, Mantelli, Jean-Jacques, Régis and the entire Nice team for making our stay so pleasant 😉
