Lately, we have realized more than ever how good it is to travel. In fact, to use a fashionable term, it is essential. Leaving to discover the riches this world has to offer is a true privilege, and if there is a perfect country for that, I strongly recommend Turkey.

Visiting Turkey is a guarantee that you will be filled with both eyes and heart, as its beauty is matched only by its warm-hearted people. Although it is located at the gates of Asia, this destination is very easily accessible thanks to the Turkish Airlines company, which offers direct flights from many French airports. Moreover, it was voted among the best airlines in the world in 2020, so why deny yourself that?

Immediate boarding, I’m taking you on a trip to Turkey, to discover my must-see attractions in a country that has no end of its wonders.

Istanbul – The Pearl of the Bosphorus

It is obviously unthinkable to talk about Turkey without passing through Istanbul. This city, which is vibrant and rich in culture and architecture, can be a journey in itself, with so much to discover. Let’s start with Saint Sophia, this spectacular monument that was once a church, then a museum, and finally, since 2020, a mosque. As we’re on the subject, the Blue Mosque is also a must-see in Istanbul with its breathtaking architecture. Still hungry for culture? Head to the Topkapi Palace or the Galata Tower, at the top of which I recommend climbing to admire an exceptional viewpoint.

What if we took a breath after these visits in the heart of Istanbul? Indeed, ideally located between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, it is easy to take off and it is naturally a cruise on the magnificent Bosphorus that I recommend, for a unique view of the city and its wonders. The seagulls come to sublimate an already perfect setting, where at sunset the ancient Byzantine domes cut a sky of dreamy tones.

Cappadocia – A magnificent lung

Who hasn’t dreamed of witnessing this fabulous spectacle of dozens of hot air balloons rising in perfect choreography at sunrise, with a spectacular landscape as a backdrop? It takes place in Cappadocia and believe me, it’s an experience to be lived once in a lifetime. In the heart of Turkey lies Cappadocia, a unique mineral landscape dotted with the famous “fairy chimneys” that are the result of rich volcanic activity.

While Cappadocia is famous for its daily ballet of hot air balloons, the region is full of activities to do, such as Göreme National Park, the Rose Valley, the Pigeon Valley and its wine route.

Ephesus – The Greek city

Turkey’s geographical location makes it one of the areas with the richest history in human history. I suggest you take a journey back 3,000 years by visiting Ephesus, the most famous ancient and archaeological site in Turkey or Asia Minor, to keep with the theme. This ancient Greek city, located in the Izmir region, was founded around 1,000 BC and you can easily imagine the world of that time thanks to the terraced houses, frescoes and mosaics that fill the city.

On this open-air part of the history, one can also admire the remains of the Artemision, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, a grand temple dedicated to Artemis. Just that.

Pamukkale – The natural wonders

It is one of the most famous geological curiosities in the world. Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the site of Pamukkale offers a unique and breathtaking landscape to every visitor. It is there that you can admire these famous hot springs, veritable natural pools on terraces contrasting with the immaculate white of the travertine formations. In fact, Pamukkale literally means “cotton castle” in Turkish. It is easy to understand why.

From this site, which already offers a unique spectacle, we can admire below the ancient thermal spa of Hierapolis, founded in the 2nd century BC. It is very pleasant to wander through the absolutely magnificent remains of this ancient city, including, among its ruins, its impressive amphitheater. Out of time.

As you have probably noticed, it is difficult to summarize all the beauty of such a vast country, as its history, landscapes, and people are rich. With these few lines about my must-sees, I hope I have given you the desire to discover Turkey and all that it has to offer.

In any case, writing this article has awakened in me the desire to travel to Turkey, on the doorstep of Asia, to learn more about this warm and welcoming country.
