A few hours exploring Portofino
We had often heard about Portofino as being a little corner of paradise on the Italian Riviera.
Its charming little port, these colorful houses, its lush greenery and its breathtaking view of the Mediterranean… A postcard-perfect setting.
Moreover, they are often compared Portofino à Saint Tropez! As a matter of fact, there is some truth and some falsehood, but one thing is certain: the mythical Saint-Tropez has nothing to envy its sister cities.
Italian omelet.
We left Cannes early in the morning, at around 9 a.m., the tent in the trunk, the car with the top down, the Italian music playlist on, and off we went for 3 days of road trip in Italy!
After 3 hours of driving, we finally arrive on the small winding roads by the sea, offering exceptional panoramas. Three kilometers before arriving in Portofino, the carabiniers ask us to park on the lower side for about twenty minutes due to the heavy influx of tourists, who have filled up all the parking lots in the city. That sounds promising…
Once we arrived at the parking lot, we discovered the exorbitant prices, but we could no longer take it back. In fact, it costs 5.50 € per hour and 21.00 € for 24 hours :-/

We delve into the colorful alleys of Portofino, The architecture is remarkable and typical of the old small fishing ports; but the traditional shops have disappeared to make way for luxury boutiques and art galleries that flourish throughout the village, and the sea-ferries disgorge hundreds of tourists every day...
We move away from the city center to get a higher vantage point and enjoy a remarkable panoramic view of Portofino from the church of San Giorgio and the Brown Castle. The surroundings are lush and peaceful… We do not recommend stopping for a long time if you are taking a road trip along the Ligurian coast; it is better to stay there for half a day.
At the end of the afternoon we resumed our journey. Levanto, the starting point of the discovery the villages of Cinque Terre

A beautiful little corner of paradise that I don't know. I can't wait to discover it; the Italian coast has many jewels.
The village looks really charming and pleasant to visit. 5.50 Euros an hour is not bad, actually.

The Cinque Terre is an absolutely must-see trip in a lifetime. It’s simply magnificent scenery. My favorite stop was the town of Vernazza. I recommend visiting the Cinque Terre at least once in your life and more importantly. Anyway, given the beauty of the scenery, it’s no wonder that the smallest park in Italy is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!!
SylvieWe too hallucinated at the sight of the parking prices! Fortunately, a few hours are enough to explore the village 😉
It's definitely worth a visit for the beauty of the place!
