When the boat arrives at the small pier and one discovers the hotel terraces clinging to the cliff, one really has the impression of arriving in a secret place.
There is no road, no cars, just:
- the lake
- the volcanoes
- the calm.
This sense of isolation is incredible and makes the stay particularly Romantic and relaxing.
A spectacular view of the Atitlán volcano
From the hotel’s terraces, the view of the lake is absolutely incredible.
Just opposite stands the Atitlán volcano, whose majestic silhouette dominates the horizon. Alongside it, one can also see the Volcano Tolimán, which complements this spectacular volcanic landscape.
In the morning, the light on the lake is very gentle and the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful. But the moment I preferred remains without hesitation. the sunset, When the sky turns pink and orange behind the volcanoes.
Sitting on the terrace with a cocktail in hand, facing this magnificent landscape, I really felt like I was in one of the most beautiful places in Guatemala.

The water is cool but very pleasant, especially after a day in the sun.

Rowing on the lake with the volcanoes in the background is a truly magical experience and allows you to discover the landscapes around the hotel from a different perspective.

Another moment that I particularly enjoyed: the Jacuzzi with view of Lake Atitlán.
After a day exploring the villages of the lake, relaxing in the warm water facing the landscape is a true moment of happiness.

One of the must-do activities when staying at Lake Atitlán is take a lancha (taxi boat) to go and discover the small villages that surround the lake.
From the hotel or from Panajachel, it is very easy to take a boat to reach the different villages.
Each village has its own atmosphere.
For example, you can visit:
- San Juan La Laguna, known for its textile workshops and artistic atmosphere
- San Pedro La Laguna, an animated village with many cafes
- Santiago Atitlán, one of the most authentic villages on the lake where Mayan culture is very present.
Crossing the lake by boat is already a magnificent experience in itself, with the volcanoes and mountains all around.
Meals and cocktails by the lake
We were also very pleasantly surprised by the hotel restaurant.
In the evening, everyone gathers on the large terrace for dinner with spectacular views of the lake.
The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and the food is delicious.
And of course, you must not miss it cocktails at sunset, A truly magical moment facing the volcano.
How long should I stay at Casa del Mundo?
We stayed there. 2 nights and 3 days, This was perfect for enjoying the hotel and Lake Atitlán to the fullest.

Casa del Mundo is clearly one of the most unique hotels I’ve stayed in in Guatemala.
With its spectacular location, access only by boat, its terraces suspended above the lake, and the incredible view of the Atitlán volcano, the experience is truly unforgettable.
