We tested the Fesch & Spa hotel in Ajaccio

“And what if we went to Corsica for the weekend?“
This is how this little adventure on the beautiful island began, with a simple question that quickly became an imperative: “Yes, I want to go on a weekend to the sun in May!“

Since you know me, you shouldn't get your hopes up on this kind of proposal.
As soon as the idea was mentioned, the search for the right date and the best flight tickets began, of course from the best place to spend 3 days in Corsica.
The whole thing was done in a few hours, with a round-trip ticket to Ajaccio in Corsica du Sud for the May 1st bridge!

Ajaccio, the good idea for the start of the season

Sure, it’s nice and sunny in Corsica in May. But it’s not summer in May! So forget about swimming at Palombaggia and jet-skiing in Saint-Florent.
Our choice therefore fell on Ajaccio, the largest city in Corsica, but also one offering the most opportunities for discovery and leisure during this early part of May.
And to make the most of Ajaccio, we booked 2 nights at the Fesch & Spa hotel, a 3-star hotel in the city center.

The hotel of reference in the city center of Ajaccio

The Fesch hotel is located on the street... Fesch! And it’s a pedestrian street.
So the taxi can’t drop you off in front of the entrance, but 250 m away, nothing serious.
The facade is relatively anonymous but our eyes are immediately drawn to the top floor of this very large building (7 floors), but we will talk about that later.

The check-in at the hotel is quick, after a charming and very professional welcome.
At the time of booking, I decided to treat myself by choosing a comfort room with a terrace, which had just been renovated.

The room is very beautiful, very stylish, but what can I say about the terrace with a view of the roofs of the old city: a delight. And since it is very nice and sunny, the first moments are dedicated to contemplation and self-congratulation: we really chose well!

The Rooftop of Fesch, a must-see!

But let's face it, our main motivation for discovering this hotel in Ajaccio Of course, it was its famous rooftop. Very recent (created just before Covid), the hotel’s top floor offers breathtaking panoramic views over the entire Gulf of Ajaccio, the old town, and the mountains in the distance.

This rooftop space changes according to the time of day.
You start there with breakfast, dazzled by the view (and a little bit of sunshine, I admit).
You go back there during the day for the incredible small heated pool, installed on the roofs, in an extraordinary setting. You find yourself there in the evening to enjoy the cocktail bar and you finish the evening at the restaurant!
For a while, we wouldn’t leave the hotel, because it has another surprise on the ground floor: a spa and massages!

The Spa of the Fesch Hotel

And yes, I still succumbed to the appeal of a hotel with a wellness area. I love being pampered. So I chose to spend a (long) time in the hotel’s spa, then in the expert hands of a masseuse. I took the opportunity to discover the treatments from the brand Phytomer, which has an agreement with the hotel spa Fesch.

And what about Ajaccio?

And what about Ajaccio? Well, booking a hotel right in the heart of the city turned out to be a great idea. Everything is within walking distance, including the first beaches! The city of Ajaccio It is very pleasant. You can feel a true sense of well-being there, with the sea present everywhere. Not to mention the ubiquitous memory of a certain Napoleon Bonaparte, who was born a few hundred meters from the Fesch hotel.
