We tested: the Sofitel Essaouira Mogador golf & spa

During our stay in Essaouira we were lucky to stay at Sofitel Essaouira, a magnificent 5-star hotel located in a sumptuous natural setting, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, and 10 minutes by car from the medina. The ideal place to put down roots and escape with your loved one for a long weekend, breathe the sea air, discover this wonderful region of Morocco and enjoy

Actually, it’s much more than just a hotel; we could talk about a high-end resort dedicated to wellness and golf. There’s the main building with 150 rooms and 28 private villas located all around the golf course. As soon as we arrived, we were immediately drawn to the hotel lobby, which is very spacious, elegant, beautifully and harmoniously decorated with a subtle blend of local inspirations and a contemporary touch.

I was struck by this large wall of greenery at the foot of which there is a small lounge where you can enjoy excellent mint tea prepared right in front of you at any time of the day. Great hospitality! Extending from the main hall, we discover this large hippopotamus statue in bright red and behind it are the stairs that lead us to the hotel’s immense outdoor swimming pool.

Our room

What marks us every time we discover a Sofitel is the absolutely wonderful bedding with unparalleled comfort. It’s as if we were on cloud nine, happiness… At the end of every stay we promise ourselves to treat ourselves to MyBed bed from Sofitel About the apartment… Maybe one day! From the bed we had a clear panoramic view of the hotel’s green spaces with the natural swimming pool in the foreground and the wild spaces in the background with the ocean in the distance. At sunset, it’s magical!

In keeping with the hall and the various different areas of the hotel, the decor of the room is very pleasant. Among other things, there is a floor made of tadelakt, bright colors, decorative objects, and high-quality furniture. The bathroom is located in the room, separated from the bed by sliding wooden partitions, and the bathtub is not actually a bathtub at all! It is rather a small stone basin covered with beautiful mosaics in a bright blue color, and in any case it is large enough for two people to take a bath at the same time.

The breakfast at Sofitel Essaouira

A varied, delicious, balanced breakfast with the option of making omelettes, scrambled eggs or oriental crepes. There are delicious pastries, a wide variety of fruit juices, and plenty of fresh produce (fruits, vegetables, charcuterie, yogurt, etc.). The must-try step to start your day at Sofitel. And to make it count, why not spend a few minutes in the pool right next door!

The swimming pools and the gardens

You can enjoy the two beautiful swimming pools of the Sofitel Essaouira (one of which is natural), surrounded by beds, hammocks and sun loungers for you to relax in. Take a walk through this large estate and enjoy the natural landscapes swept by the breeze from the sea. Continue a little further along the golf course and you will arrive at the sand dunes through which you reach the wild beach. A beautiful walk to be done early in the morning or at sunset to enjoy beautiful light

The Spa at Sofitel Essaouira

Treat yourself, relax and let yourself be pampered by the professionals of SPA Cinq Monde who will provide you with relaxing care and make you live a wonderful experience in this captivating place.

We haven’t tested the spa because entry is paid even for hotel guests, which is a shame because access to the hammam and the heated pool costs 15€. Knowing that there are several pools in the hotel and that we had already had treatments two days earlier in Marrakech, we preferred the outdoor pools…

The golf course at Sofitel Essaouira Mogador

Essaouira is a popular destination for golf enthusiasts, as the course is so enjoyable to play, to the great delight of amateurs and professionals alike. Don’t miss the chance to have lunch at the golf restaurant; it’s a real treat!

We were able to accompany our parents at the beginning of the course; we let them play the 18 holes and in the meantime we enjoyed the pool before meeting them again for the aperitif at the club house!
