We tested: Generator Hostel Copenhagen

Here is a wonderful discovery that really caught our attention and that I recommend to everyone! Our second night in the short stay in Copenhagen We went to a youth hostel of a new kind: Generator Hostel. Located in the heart of Copenhagen, just steps from the magnificent Kongens Have park, this youth hostel doesn’t lack in terms of decor and style; it’s worthy of a beautiful 3-star hotel. A pleasant surprise…

We arrive in the very contemporary hotel lobby, with trendy decor featuring a mix of styles, materials, and furniture worthy of great designers. A big Wow from the moment we arrived. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and immediately explains the operation of the hotel, its concept, its themed evenings, and we are given vouchers to visit the Generator hostel bar in the evening. The latter is oriented to 100% 2.0 with a multitude of hashtags created based on the universe in which one finds oneself (#Genlove, #Genparty, etc…) an opportunity for geeks like us to share our discoveries in real time on social networks, mainly Twitter and Instagram (@travelmehappy)

You will find:

  • A trendy bar In the sought-after decor, where we will serve you excellent cocktails until 2 a.m.! All of it, in joy and good humor! Theme nights every night
  • Breakfast in buffet form, with both savory and sweet options, everything you need for an ultra-low price
  • The Wifi is free and accessible everywhere in the hostel. There are also offices for working quietly in a cozy setting, as if you were in a co-working space.
  • The hotel has a laundry room, open 24/7. Very convenient during a road trip by train like the one we did.
  • Next to the hall there is a large luggage room with many lockers for storing your belongings while waiting for check-in around 2 PM
  • At the reception desk there is the possibility to purchase a multitude of practical travel accessories, usually those that are forgotten before departure (shower gel, toothbrush, condoms, etc…). It is also possible to purchase tickets for various excursions in Copenhagen.
  • Our room was clean and bright but not very spacious and the decor remained simple, compared to the rest of the youth hostel. The bedding is excellent, though.

Every morning, free walking tours are organized to discover the historical and tourist center of Copenhagen. It is also an opportunity to make nice connections with fellow travelers! To my great surprise, Generator Hostel is not only full of young people, but also families, seniors, and business people who visit there to take advantage of the hostel’s central location, and who, like us, are also fascinated by its decor and style.

The Generator Group, which owns establishments in other European capitals, also relies on originality by bringing a quirky touch to each establishment. At the Generator Hostel in Copenhagen, you can enjoy

  • a large pétanque field on the terrace where young people go to spend a pleasant evening!
  • In the vast living room there is a small cinema where you can relax with several people on large mattresses.
  • You can leave with a little souvenir by stopping by the hostel’s vintage photo booth! A once-in-a-lifetime experience…
  • Gentlemen! You have to use the bathroom, because a surprise awaits you there! If you’re a «gamer» like me, you’ll be blown away! You’ll be able to play a car race while you do your little commission, by orienting the jet using sensors 🙂

  • It’s great… and indeed it’s not at all a youth hostel!

  • It’s amazing, it has nothing to do with the one in London and I didn’t know they had opened one in Denmark. It looks much more modern! I know the London version very well because I spent a lot of time there over several years; it’s a nice place but sometimes impersonal even though I had some great moments there.
What is the atmosphere in Copenhagen? And the staff?

    • Capucine and Thibault

They are really cool and always ready to party 😉

  • The place looks great! Copenhagen is the city that makes me dream the most. I hope to go there one day…

  • I knew the Generator in London from my stay there last year, but the one in Copenhagen actually looks even more stylish!

And the one from Venice is even more CANONICAL!

  • oh woaw, I would definitely love this hotel! nice decor and everything you need to stay connected! thanks for the discovery 🙂
