On the road to Chiang Mai: a train like no other.

At the moment I’m writing this post, I’m on the train somewhere in the middle of Thailand…

We are going to Chiang Mai to do a Trek in the forest.
The landscape is changing, I’m listening to my road trip playlist…

I look through the window; there’s no closed cabin; I see everyone passing by: locals and backpackers.

Sharing, exchange and tolerance.
The Thais are extremely kind, always ready to help us, anticipating our actions and gestures. Giving without expecting anything in return.
It’s the holidays in Thailand, and soon the new year, so the train is full of locals; we love it!
This train is magical.
We are in 2nd class; I am extremely surprised by the comfort of the beds: there is a bench and an extremely comfortable mattress with a sheet, a towel that doubles as a blanket, a real pillow, and a curtain for privacy.
Perfect for our 13-hour journey.
As a regular SNCF train user, I can tell you that I prefer these ones! Moreover, we each have an electrical outlet, which may be silly but at least we can charge our cameras and phones!
I am amazed by the coverage of the free wifi network that is available everywhere in the country; whether in bars, restaurants, train stations, the airport… We were able to share a little of our adventure with our loved ones through FaceTime, crazy right?!

The scenery continues to unfold; we should not be long in reaching Chiang Mai; the wild landscape thrills me.
What a lucky we are to be able to live this way.
We remember it every morning…
Thibault is in the bar, watching a Thai movie.
I dream After taking a bath, I’m all covered in sweat; since our arrival we haven’t had a »real shower»; just a tap in the middle of our bathroom in our hotel in Bangkok; the laughter when we discovered that; well, we’ve seen worse; yesterday Thibault even did better; in Ayutthaya he washed himself with the watering hose from the restaurant where we ate; no comment!
We're well equipped anyway; a ton of wipes, alcohol-based solutions, and our colgate mouthwash in our pocket!
