Traveling around the world with just one plane ticket: the how-to guide!
Do you want to travel around the world?
To travel the globe for a month or a year?
There is an interesting formula to help you realize your dream: a single ticket to travel the world using several airlines.
- Skyteam (which includes the companies Air France – KLM, Delta…) offers the «Tour of the World» pass» 900 destinations in 173 countries, for durations ranging from 10 days to a year, and flexible flights to decide on your destination at any time during the trip.
The ticket price is calculated based on the distance traveled during the trip, using packages (from 26,000 to 39,000 miles).
- The Star Alliance which counts 20 airlines (Air Canada, Air China, ANA, Continental, Lufthansa, Scandinavian SAS, Singapore Airlines, Spanair, United Airlines and US Airways…), offers its own Round the World Like Skyteam, the traveler can choose to take a trip of 10 days to one year to 1,200 destinations in 189 countries. With a minimum of 3 flights and a maximum of 16.
The price can vary from 2,100 euros to 3,700 euros on average.
- The «Global Explorer» of the Oneworld alliance (American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, JAL, LAN, Malev, Mexicana, Qantas, Royal Jordanian, S7) offers more than 800 destinations to choose from.
- At Chez Oneworld, You will need to decide in advance which destinations you want to visit so that you can set the price of the trip, which should include 3 to 16 flights.

It’s good to know all this. I did some research last year and I remember that Oneworld has a pretty good app for making their itinerary!
We spend evenings looking at the itineraries… Unfortunately, for now, there are no planned world tours, not for this year either, I’m opening my practice as a private practitioner and probably not next year either 🙁
ahhhh a round-the-world trip, my dream!! but we also have to solve the problem of taking leave… ;-))) a great plan anyway, thanks for the info!

I haven’t even started the journey around the world yet, unfortunately… and that’s a shame!

For the moment, Connaisseurs du Voyageurs is almost 1000€ more expensive than the other quotes I could get for the same itinerary, and they didn’t even recommend it to me at all.
There is also the site Zip World (French agency) which I was advised to use with Travel Nation because in addition there are no exchange fees with ZipWorld. No comment, oh well maybe one: when an article is sponsored the legislation requires that it be mentioned.
Did you see somewhere that it is sponsored? No! So there’s no need to harass us on Twitter…lalaah

Hello,
I don’t think my comment to your article was meant in a bad way; I just put what I thought based on my research, that’s all. Without mentioning any other topic than the one discussed in the article and without criticizing the article itself. As for Twitter, I simply reacted to a tweet from someone I’m like because they had the same impression as me. I don’t think that a single tweet criticizing the editorial content of the article can be considered harassment at all.
However, I admit that the unfortunately too short length of my tweet could have led to confusion regarding the content and intentions of my comment under that article. And I apologize for that. By the phrase «from where my comment,» I meant that I had allowed myself to comment without mentioning the name of another agency, simply to give my experience with that agency and to mention the name of another agency, without implying any feelings of the author regarding the formatting, as I had written in my tweet, that there might be a certain bias in this article.I apologize for the indiscretion of my tweet; that was not my intention.
I still wanted to clarify the facts so that you no longer need to use the term «harassment», which seems very strong given the circumstances, and to show you that no accusation of sponsorship came from my part but was just an expression of an impression based on the layout of the article.
I wish you a good day.
Tickets are often cheaper when leaving London. We bought ours through Travel Nation (an English agency).
For my part, I was also leaving from Belgium! The cheapest one was 290€ Brussels/NYC round trip!

Very nice article, plus we’re in the middle of it! 🙂 We asked for offers last weekend at ZipWorld, OneWorld, Travel Nation, for a 7-flight itinerary. We’re still waiting for the responses… However, a small question regarding Star Alliance: where did you get these prices? Because I saw the same price range on several websites, but when I went to the Star Alliance website and did the online quote (where you have to enter your flights), I ended up paying 5800€ per person (!!!) for only 5 flights (and no really specific destination like a tropical island, just typical flights: Zurich-Beijing, Jakarta-Sydney-Buenos Aires, Quito-San Jose and Mexico-Zurich…
