Bucketlist: Spending Christmas in Lapland!
It’s already All Saints’ Day holidays; the sun shines so brightly in Cannes that you could be in early June! A little reality check: toy catalogs are arriving in our letterboxes, the chocolate displays in the supermarkets are endless, YOUHOU It’s almost Christmas!
With Thibault it’s one of our favorite times! The month of December is a time of intense happiness, Choosing the Christmas tree, decorating the house, spending hours finding the perfect gifts for the people we love, finding a dress, making beautiful gift packages, strolling through the Christmas markets, drinking mulled wine and eating chestnuts, preparing the Christmas dinner and patiently waiting for Santa Claus to come. (Waiting patiently for November to pass so that we can be there too)
Last year we left for New York, Boston and Montreal. These destinations are already great in normal times, but then for Christmas, It was the apotheosis! We would so much like to make you feel these moments of happiness; that is why for the past two years we have been sharing all our adventures with you!
This year we are thinking of 3 destinations in particular for mid-December. We have selected London, Alsace or Lapland. (If it were up to me, I would do all three!)
Today we have chosen to talk to you about Lapland because traveling to London or Alsace is incredibly easy, while Lapland is still a destination that seems inaccessible and we will prove to you that everything is possible and that it is no longer as expensive as one might think!

Why Laponia?
The first answer that comes to mind is: the city of Father Christmas.
Second answer: the snow, the sled dogs, the elk and these breathtaking landscapes
Third answer: the northern lights.
The land of Father Christmas is that dream buried deep inside me, that little girl’s dream even though I’ve grown up, during this Christmas season I become a little girl again., amazed.
What to do in Lapland?
- Watch the northern lights
- Meet Santa Claus!
- Making a sled dog
- Skiing
- Fishing in a frozen lake
- Swimming in ice-cold water!
- Taking a sauna
- Doing snowmobiling
- Sleeping in an igloo
- Spending Christmas in Lapland
How to spend a Christmas in Lapland?
The fastest way to get to Lapland is by plane from Paris to Helsinki and then a flight to Ivalo in Finnish Lapland. To write this article, I myself tested all the airline comparison sites to try to find the best price; the average price is around 500€ for a round trip from Paris. Yes, it’s not cheap, but it’s a trip you should take at least once in your life, isn’t it?
But… I have good news! In my research, I found an online agency that offers organized trips in Lapland for only 690€ (all-inclusive from Paris in December 2014) for a stay in Ivalo that includes hockey-ball, rackets, curling, lasso throwing, sledging, and the Northern Lights etc. It looks fantastic!

And it’s not over yet! I found it A trip to Father Christmas's town (Rovaniemi) for 750€ Half-board from Paris, always for mid-December! That’s a bit of a dream trip (Thibault if you read this <3)

That would be interesting too, but at Christmas there really has to be a crazy world! I think we should wait a few weeks to make it more peaceful (and certainly cheaper!) in my opinion…
It’s my dream! My father visited the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi and since then I’ve been dreaming of spending Christmas there! It’s such a magical atmosphere.. It was a struggle this year but I’m really looking forward to next year 🙂

diary of a Nice woman
8 December 2014
My boyfriend's dream, but I admit that I am a little afraid of the cold. After all, I imagine that you'll find all the necessary equipment on site, but I'm still a bit afraid!! Hashtag: a cold-hearted or a cuddly person, as you prefer!!
In any case, it looks magical and if I’ve understood correctly, you’ll be visiting it at the beginning of 2015, right?? If so, I’m looking forward to following your progress.
