We tested: the Mercure Thalassa Port Fréjus hotel
After 4 fabulous weekends on the French Riviera, where we tested out different Mercure hotels as part of our ambassador program, it was time to tell you about our latest experience at the Mercure hotel in Cannes.’ Hotel Mercure Thalassa Port Fréjus.
To finish off in style, we went on a 3-day Thalasso trip! Oh Joy!
We had just spent an extremely busy September between our respective jobs, the blog and the travel bloggers’ conference; honestly, we were on pins and needles and this weekend turned out wonderfully!
Welcome to
Located just a thirty-minute drive from our home (Cannes), this Mercure hotel is located right in the heart of the marina of Port Fréjus, facing the sea. It has 117 rooms, a thalassotherapy center, a fitness room, an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, direct access to the beach, as well as a bar and a restaurant.
At the end of the morning, we are welcomed by Marjolaine, who shows us around the facility and explains the course of these 3 days.
The program includes wellness treatments, massages, relaxation, a nature walk in the Esterel region, and a tasting of organic wine at the Château Paquette estate.
We started the experience with a light and delicious lunch at the hotel restaurant,
the ensouleia. Good to know The restaurant’s menu changes every day; we’d never seen anything like it!
And voilà, the moment we were waiting for has arrived, off to the thalassotherapy center!!!
As soon as we arrived, we met Johann, the director of the thalasso, who welcomed us warmly and gave us our first treatment, the » Hydro-massage sea bath » (sea water jet massage that allows for true muscle relaxation)
Then, we discovered three more body care products: – The Shower jet (modeling with a full and precise remote jet for toning or soothing effects) – The Marine Drainage (massage with a jet in a warm seawater bath for muscle relaxation) deep) – One Hydrojet session (Lying on a water mattress, jets massage your legs and back from the bottom up)
Between each session we had free time and we took advantage of it to rest in the solarium, lying down with our herbal tea on a sun lounger facing the sea. No phone, no Twitter or Facebook notifications, no emails… just rest! (I even surprised Thibault while he was snoring!)
Finally, an afternoon of pampering is tiring, but «WOW« what a good feeling it is in the long run, what a great way to face the winter!

We enjoyed delicious fish, a light dinner for a good night's sleep!
After a delicious night spent in our privilege room and in our King Size bed, we open the curtains and what do we see… an exceptional sunrise, thank you, dear nature!
After that first night, off to breakfast! The large buffet awaits us; we try to eat light because everything looks beautiful and tastes good, but we’re in a Thalasso resort to get in shape.Don't gain any weight!
That morning, we had an appointment in the Esterel forest with Joseph, the first forest guide of the Esterel, known locally as »the bear», a real character!
Joseph is both passionate and exciting, We spent the morning wandering through the forest, discovering the wildlife, flora and the park.
We learned so many things! Did you know that the Esterel forest domain covers an area of 33,000 hectares, of which 6,000 hectares are forest? Even more surprising, there are 25 artificial lakes for the Canadian geese in case of fire and a multitude of activities to practice, such as climbing, hiking, fishing… And why not a little walk on foot, by bike or by car since there are nearly 400 km of trails within the park. (And we had never been there before!)
If you are passing by the coast, we recommend a short trip with Joseph. You will learn a lot about this exceptional protected area. You will be able to admire, among other things, La Grotte de la Ste Baume and its shaded spring, Pic d’Aurelle and its panoramic view, Pic de l’Ours, Mont Vinaigre, the highest peak of the Estérel, the lakes of L’Estérel, the islands of Lérins, and the sea beyond sight…
Ps: And if you’re wise, you’ll even be allowed to sample local products! Hey, I’ll let you in on a secret: The highest peak in the Esterel massif is at an altitude of 453 meters; if you remember that, you’ll be entitled to a second glass of rosé! Of course, it’s a secret…
Return to the hotel for lunch. New menu, I’ll have an Italian salad and Thibault will have mussels!
For this second afternoon of Thalasso we make a beautiful 1h15 stopover in Polynesia with the »Ritual Magique de Polynésie«
The program includes coconut scrub, nacre velvet wrap and hibiscus, and lomi lomi massage. The movement of the waves is reproduced on your body.
A moment of pure relaxation accompanied by exotic music that is simply relaxing… Paradise 🙂
We continue with a Do-in class, a practical method of relaxation and self-massage originating from the East. Our coach teaches us a dozen effective revitalization techniques to combat fatigue, anxiety and stress; applicable in any situation: transportation, airports, meetings, etc…
For this second evening at the Mercure, we invited
Florence and Xavier, from travel blog 4 corners of the world, To join us for dinner. An opportunity to take stock of the success of the 1st travel blogger’s salon that took place a few days earlier in Cannes!
Last night at the hotel… The next morning we set out to visit the wine estate of
Château Paquette, Recognized for the quality of its wine, often awarded at national competitions. We meet the young, very friendly owners who have taken over the family business, passed down from generation to generation. They are also passionate about their region, their terroir, and their profession, and we immediately sense that they enjoy interacting with visitors and sharing a convivial moment. After a forty-minute walk through the vineyards in the estate, we return to the castle for a tasting of the various wines on offer, accompanied by grilled toasts with tapenade and a sausage …
So the aperitif starts at 10:45? Perfect, that suits us! The wines are excellent and come in two ranges for each variety. We recommend the Osmose cuvée in rosé or white, a delight!
The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and we had a pleasant time with them; we also recommend you to stop by if you’re passing through Fréjus or in the surrounding area 😉
Our great adventure Mercure ends here... Already finished?? 🙁
We have experienced unique and unforgettable moments in every experience organized by the teams of each Mercure hotel: a staff of gold standard quality… We have truly rediscovered the Mercure universe and have radically changed our perspective on the brand image of this hotel chain. From the hotel manager to the restaurant waiters, through the partners of each hotel, everyone is pleasant, committed to their work, open, friendly, human, easily accessible, and always ready to satisfy every customer’s desires with impeccable service quality.
We also realized that each Mercury is unique. From restoration to decoration, through the activities offered, the hotels are in perfect harmony with their territory, their local identity, and are major players in local tourism who actively contribute to the enhancement of their destinations. Some are dedicated to golf, others to wellness… Some are located in exceptional natural settings, while others are in the heart of the most beautiful cities… There is something for everyone, and there is little chance of experiencing the same hotel experience from one establishment to another: each stay is unique.
