  • 1 hour to get to Pointe à Callière; you didn’t see anything! Sacrilege

As indicated in the title, this is a 24-hour city trip 🙂 So we’re giving you some ideas

  • Hello Capucine and Thibault,
I stopped for a few minutes on your blog because, I must admit, this article made me dream.
I really like Canada and my role is to organize tours throughout the country. Today, seeing your article and your experience, I couldn’t help but mention a few places like 3643 Saint Laurent or Bristro Duo.D.
So thank you for all this really useful information in my profession. Your blog is now in my «favorites» 🙂
    Good continuation

  • I really like Canada, but I’ve never had the opportunity to go to Montreal. Canada is so big! I’ll keep your article in mind for my future trip there.

I stumbled upon your blog by chance while searching for information about Morocco. Of course, I was intrigued by this post because I am originally from Montreal and I like to know what foreigners recommend and what they enjoyed about their experience.
However, I must admit that I am disappointed.
While some of the addresses are indeed interesting, such as Pastaga, Banquise and the Jean-Talon market, others leave me perplexed.
Of course, I’m aware that it depends on your own tastes and personal travel style, but I think the Foufounes electric are not a great place to party. It’s mostly underage people, long lines, low-quality beer…
There are so many other charming places that make Montreal a beautiful city even at night.
It would also have been interesting to mention a walk in the Mile-End, where you’ll find the Jewish quarter and the BAGELS, the Montreal specialty. Montreal is a gourmand city whose culinary culture is extremely diverse, and even though many French people live there, I think it would have been more relevant to propose a restaurant where you can find local and Quebec-based food!

For a next visit, here are some places I suggest:
Eating out: EVOO in the St-Henri neighborhood, Le Mousso for a slightly more expensive budget, Schwart’z for smoked meat (an essential part of Montreal’s gastronomy), Bouillon Bilk, Au Pied de Cochon…
Have a drink: There are many wine bars including La Buvette chez Simone, Rouge Gorge, and Vin Papillon. If you’re a fan of microbreweries, head to Dieu Du Ciel where you’ll find many Quebec specialties. Since I really like gin, I also have a suggestion for a gin bar: Le Pourvoyeur.
Let the party begin: Partouuuuuut! Montrealers are true party animals; every bar can quickly turn into a big, friendly gathering. A hockey game at the Hardware Store is also a great way to get a better feel for Quebec culture in the evening. Montreal is full of clubs, bars, and pubs with different atmospheres; it all depends on your personal preferences.
Things to see: LE MILE-END for its cafes and diversity, the southwest (St-Henri), the Chinatown area, the entertainment district during the many festivals.
To visit: the CCA (Canadian Centre of Architecture), the MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art)
    Take a walk: Parc Lafontaine
For the poutine: Poutineville and try La Taquise à la Banquise

We hope you have a good stay!

    • Capucine & Thibault

      Hello 🙂
Many thanks for your practical advice and addresses!
Of course, we haven’t had time to discover everything, and we can’t wait to go back there 🙂
      See you soon

  • Huge! It reminds me of my stay in Quebec!
Which camera did you use? The photos are just stunning.

Poutine is an extraordinary experience; I’ve had some great ones in Montreal and Quebec City.
But it really has to be really cold or you have to have a few beers in your body.

  • Hello,

    Indeed, the photos are magnificent.

I am seriously keeping this guide for a possible second trip to Montreal.
